Backups & migration

Plan recovery, stage changes and bring existing sites across.

UWAS v0.11.31Release notes reviewed October 22, 2026Upstream reference

Back up before changing

The platform supports scheduled local, S3 and SFTP backups. Configure destinations, retain copies outside the host, and test restoration. The CLI backup command creates a configuration backup; use dashboard site backup workflows for site data.

Terminalshell
uwas backup
uwas restore

Clone and migrate sites

Dashboard workflows can clone domains for staging and migrate site files over SSH with database dump/import. Review credentials, storage requirements and DNS cutover before moving a live site.

Convert existing configurations

CLI migration helpers translate Nginx or Apache configurations. Treat conversion output as a starting point: inspect it, validate it, and test redirects, rewrites, headers and dynamic routes before switching traffic.

Terminalshell
uwas migrate nginx /etc/nginx/sites-available/example
uwas migrate apache /etc/apache2/sites-available/example.conf
uwas config validate
