Installation & updates

Choose a release binary, the installer, or a source build.

UWAS v0.11.31Release notes reviewed October 22, 2026Upstream reference

Install a release

Use the upstream Linux/macOS installer or select the platform and architecture from GitHub Releases. The web server itself is one Go binary; serving PHP requires PHP-FPM, and container workloads require Docker.

Terminalshell
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/uwaserver/uwas/main/install.sh | sh

Build from source

The reviewed release’s go.mod requires Go 1.26.10 or newer. Build with the project Makefile.

Terminalshell
git clone https://github.com/uwaserver/uwas.git
cd uwas
make build

# Binary: bin/uwas

Run as a Linux service

Install the systemd service and start it. Review the generated unit and the configuration paths for your environment.

Terminalshell
sudo uwas install
sudo systemctl start uwas
uwas status
uwas doctor

Update intentionally

Read UPGRADING.md and the release notes before updating, particularly on multi-user servers. Back up your configuration first. The update script downloads the latest binary and restarts the service.

Terminalshell
uwas backup
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/uwaserver/uwas/main/update.sh | sh
Need every option? Read the complete configuration reference and the upstream upgrade notes for your release.
