WordPress & PHP

Serve PHP-FPM and import familiar rewrite rules.

UWAS v0.11.31Release notes reviewed October 22, 2026Upstream reference

Connect PHP-FPM

UWAS provides the FastCGI client and connection pooling; PHP-FPM still executes PHP. PHP 8.2 or newer is supported, and the installer refuses older branches. Point fpm_address at the runtime’s actual socket or TCP listener.

Configuration exampleyaml
domains:
  - host: blog.example.com
    type: php
    root: /var/www/wordpress
    ssl:
      mode: auto
    php:
      fpm_address: "unix:/var/run/php/php8.3-fpm.sock"
    htaccess:
      mode: import
    cache:
      enabled: true
      ttl: 1800

Update PHP alongside UWAS

The v0.11.31 upgrade notes require PHP 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27 or 8.5.12 or newer within the corresponding branch for CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619. Update PHP on every host separately: the UWAS binary does not patch it. The dashboard flags vulnerable and end-of-life installs; Docker users must rebuild the PHP and WordPress images.

Bring your rewrite rules

Set htaccess.mode to import to use the Apache-compatible rewrite engine. Review application-specific directives during migration: rewrite compatibility does not imply support for every Apache module.

Manage from the dashboard

The WordPress page includes install and management workflows, plugin updates, debug mode and error logs. Per-domain PHP settings let sites use different installed PHP versions. Verify each site’s extensions and database connectivity.
